SMM7 March 16: according to recent reports, Tata Iron and Steel Company (Tata Steel) said that due to the impact of the new crown pneumonia epidemic, industrial production slowed down, consumption decreased, and the company's production and sales volume decreased significantly from April to June. From April to June, Tata Steel India produced 2.99 million tons of crude steel, down 33.6% from a year earlier, while Tata Steel Europe produced 2.14 million tons, down 19.2% from a year earlier. In the same period, Tata Steel's crude steel sales in India, Europe and Southeast Asia were 2.92 million tons, 1.94 million tons and 420000 tons respectively, down 26.3%, 14.2% and 32.3% respectively from the same period last year.

According to SMM statistics, India is one of the main importers of forged manganese and manganese products in China. From January to May 2020, the total import of electrolytic manganese and manganese products ranked 17422 tons, including 7069 tons of forged manganese and manganese products and 10353 tons of scrap and powder. As a result, customs statistics on manganese exports in June do not show that India's total imports in May were 538 tons, a sharp decrease of 81% from April. According to traders, India has fewer inquiries for imported manganese products in June, and it is expected that exports of manganese products to India will show a downward trend in the second quarter.
